Wadsworth Family Reunion – 2032
On September 13, 1882, several hundred people from the U.S. and England met in Duxbury, MA to celebrate 250 years of the Wadsworth Family in America. We plan to re-create that historic event to celebrate the 400 year anniversary. Why so far away? Other than the obvious, (400 years), we plan to make this more than a celebration of a family journey, but a celebration of American history and cultural values. This nation was founded on Christian principles and dedicated to freedom and liberty. The Wadsworth family is deeply rooted in these values and our history is also a history of this great nation. Join us for an historic event, not just a reunion, but an examination of our past, present and a great and promising future.

1/6/2022 Note: Hi everyone. I’ve been giving the reunion some thought and with the advancements in technology since this posting was first written, I believe we can include more people at less cost if this is a virtual event. PLEASE let me know your thoughts and if you would be interested in assisting with the technology, or just as importantly, with the research and presentations that will be given during the event. Hybrid reunion
I would hope you will go back to your original idea of an in-person reunion. I am sure by 2032 we will all be thoroughly sick of zoom meetings!
How do you propose to handle the now dna-established split between the William and Christopher branches. That’s a problem they didn’t have to deal with in 1882!
Corrin, I appreciate your comments regarding the reunion. It’s still 10 years away and much could change between now and then, including my desire to lead an in-person, or online reunion. I have given it some thought, and I don’t think I can do this alone – and I’m not good at asking for help. Regarding the issue of the split between William and Christopher, I don’t know if we will ever establish how it came about that two unrelated Wadsworths appeared on the scene in America at precisely the same time. However, there may be information that we have yet to discover – there’s always hope!
I am certainly willing to help with the William branch of the family if I am still around and you decide to do a joint reunion again. I would be 81 in 2032! In the mean time, we have been having regular reunions of some of the NY and Ct. descendants of William with the next one in Geneseo NY this summer from July 1-3. My family would love to attend. We are descendants of William Wadsworth (9 times Great Grandfather) and some of my family have linked our heritage to get accepted into the DAR. We are from Medina, Ohio and live on the Western Reserve land that General Elijah Wadsworth owned. Wadsworth, Ohio (named after Elijah) is in Medina County and is 15 miles south of where I live. I will be 72 in 2032 and hopefully able to attend!

I just ran across this. My 5th great grandma was Sidney Wadsworth (1805-1848) and her dad was Capt Joseph Wadsworth who died in 1813 in Ohio during the war of 1812. That line came from SW Pennsylvania then into Northern VA. I’m looking for documents to make the connection between Capt Joseph Wadsworth and the man is believed to be his dad, a Pvt Robert Wadsworth who was one of Gen George Washington’s elite guard.
I am a descendent of christopher wadsworth 1609 thru his son, John and daughter Abigail who married Caleb Tomson(Thonpson).
Ha ha …. we should have it sooner. I spend every summer in Duxbury. I’ll be too old in 32” i’ll be 67 I first saw this 10yrs ago 2032 seemed like a life time 🙂

Thank you for creating this opportunity to look forward and celebrate our family history. I am a California Wadsworth descended from William Marsh Wadsworth of the 19th century. My grandfather wrote about the family for the Sutter, California historical society. I’ll be 85 at the time of the reunion and hope to stay with my family. One son, Jeff Poth has recently relocated to Ashland, Massachusetts with his family. It’s great for a bit of research when I visit.
Christopher Wadsworth is my 8th Great Grandfather. I’ll be 84 in 2032, but count me in if I’m still above ground! Since the revelation that Christopher and William were not related, I’ve been trying to trace Christopher’s path to the USA, without success. The best guess at the moment seems to be he is the descendant of Richard and Waddesworth (b 1572) and Christabel Utley (b1578). I’ve searched ship’s manifests without success. It’s possible that he was a crewman on board a vessel, perhaps the Lyon. Has anyone else had any luck with this?

Many of the Alabama Wadsworth gang descend from Ignatious Wadsworth but not all of them. I am from the Ignatious Line and my next door neighbors in Alabama (Wadsworth family) were from the other line. So funny.
I believe I am related to the Wadsworths from Massachusetts. My middle name is Wadsworth as was my Grandmother Laura Wadsworth Pitkin Ensign, my Aunt, myself and my daughter. Haven’t been looking for a while but still interested.

Just for FYI, There were two separate crossings of Wadsworth’s to America. One was in 1630 with William and Christopher. The other crossing was much later and was in the south. Most southern Wadsworth’s are descendant from the second crossing.

Was in Duxbury last December wandering around the Mayflower cemetery. A reunion with live relatives is exciting. Can’t wait. I proudly carry the Wadsworth name as a middle name and passed it to my son.
This is all very interesting. I’m in West Yorkshire, England and my name is Christopher Wadsworth. I live around 15 miles from the village of Wadsworth and Wadsworth Moor.
I too have an original copy of H.A Wadsworths reunion book. I am a fourteenth generation decendent of Christopher. I would be 76 in 2032. Hope to be around then.

My grandfather name was Loring Lyman Wadsworth and we have also traced to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Plenty of the decedents still living in Middleboro, Plymouth and Wareham.

I believe we came from Wadsworth, a village near Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire, England. It isn’t far from me but I’ve never been.
I’ve been there as a teenager, and again once married, and then took my teenage children there. It is well worth it if simply because it is such an easily traceable origin locale.
I am one of the Southern-branch Wadsworths. There unfortunately is data missing from this branch due to a court house fire in NC but the pieces do fall in place, especially after DNA testing became available.
I am a descendant of Christopher…have you traced your roots? I am so curious to know where our Christopher came from, but not having reliable information on his parentage, it is very much a mystery! Thank you

I’m researching a Thomas Wadsworth born 1612 who it appears is a brother of Christopher, their father appears to be a guy called Richard Wadsworth born 1572, sometimes spelt Waddesworth. Mother is a Christabel Wadsworths, formerly Utley, but some claim a Elyne Farrar (Ferrer) is the mother.
I was just being curious looking up my last name and came upon this site. How great is this! I would love to make it to a reunion. Saw the comment where they said wasn’t many in the south…we are from Alabama. Cant get to much more south than that! haha My dad and I moved to Texas and I don’t see too many Wadsworth’s around here. There is a Wadsworth, Texas. Would love to learn more about the Wadsworth’s history etc. Keep up the good work!
I, too, am a descendent of the Alabama Wadsworths. I have been working on genealogy for a while now. I have not been able to definitely connect us to the northern Wadsworths.
The Alabama crew is connected to a John Wadsworth that immigrated from England (but of Irish descent) and settled in coastal North Carolina in around 1700. They eventually made their way into Georgia and on to Alabama. There they were one of the founding families of St. Clair County, Alabama. My family member was William Wadsworth who moved to Alabama around 1850. They were Masons and founded a Baptist School in the area. My grandmother was born in St. Clair County and was a Wadsworth. Her family eventually moved to south Florida in 1928 when her mother passed away. Maybe your connection is there. I do know that my Great-grandfather’s sister, Nancy Amy Wadsworth, moved to Ranger, Texas. But, she was married to Ganey Blankenship.
I, too, am a descenent of the Alabama Wadsworths. I also have been working on my genealogy for a while now, and am also having difficulty definitely connecting to the norther Wadsworths.
My Alabama connect was born in Alabama and traveled to Texas by 1835. He has been referenced in different records as William, Joshua and Col. Wadsworth. His wife (my 6 ggm) was a Creek Indian born in Alabama in 1808 and was part of the forced migration. Her family choice to migrate to Texas and reached there in approx 1832 where she married Joshua Wadsworth. My 5th great grandfather, Caddo Wadsworth was their son and he was born in approx 1837 in Texas. A later interview with her reflected her husband was successful but died in the Mexican conflict (their last child was born in the spring of 1845).Their home was on a river and she lost everything at that time. She indicated at that time she relocated to Oklahoma territory which she lived there until she died in 1909. I would really appreciate any information regarding my Wadsworth connection. My Wadsworth descendant’s of Caddo stayed mostly in Oklahoma where I also grew up. Caddo had a son named Ben W. Wadsworth who had a son named Leo Wadsworth who had my father Donald Ben Wadsworth. I would love any information which would help me identify where the Wadsworth connection is beyond Caddo. {Lavina is a registered Muskogee tribe member of which indicates Caddos’ father’s name was Joshua Wadsworth but on another Indian Census it may say William Wadsworth.
We may be connected my wadsworth family is also creek my gg grandparents were Ben and Eliza wadsworth both were creek decedents. I know my gg grandfather was a political figure and helped the us government with the coordination of Dawes commission. My grandfather didn’t talk much about family history, being he grew up in the 20s on a cotton farm. Left Oklahoma for the navy and 2nd world war came home and left for California shortly after.

Then, long after that, Wadsworth lived in New York, Nebraska, and some to Wisconsin! I am also a decedent of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Are you sure Christopher Wadsworth was on the Mayflower? My records show he was on the ship the Lyons. The Wadsworth can trace their heritage to the Mayflower because of a marriage to someone who was on the Mayflower. I have grown up with Wadsworth family records. I am 73 years old.
The ship that carried Christopher Wadsworth and the year of his arrival have not been determined. It certainly was not 1609 as you state, and it wasn’t on the Mayflower. Additionally, there is no proof that he was on the ship Lyon. Just clearing the record…M Wadsworth (admin).
